Adaptation Watch: Kim Stanley Robinson’s MARS Trilogy Being Adapted for TV – SF Signal
This is fantastic news. Robinson’s Mars Trilogy is one of the most powerful, deep, well written and important pieces of science fiction of the bast 50 years. Vince Gerardis’ track record is pretty good and considering how well Game of Thrones has been received by the public at large, he might be able to do for science fiction what he has done for fantasy. It’s supposed to show on SpikeTV, which gives me pause, but if they can pull it off this could be a major television series.
Of course, it will all depend on not just the writing and acting, but the scenery. In the books, Mars itself is a character and the production will necessarily need to bring the Red Planet to life (as it were). If it’s done correctly, it will be as close to Mars as any of us will get. I’m a Red (those of you who have read the books will know what that means), of course, so my expectations on visuals will be quite high.

Interesting. I read the MARS Trilogy at Mouldy’s recommendation, and they are striking books. I have to agree, this will depend on the production, but if well done this could be very good.
