Prepare to get Lost in Space … again.

Blastr reports that there is a reboot of the 1960s television series Lost In Space.

Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, who penned Dracula Untold, have been hired to script the revamped Lost in Space. The original series was set in 1997 (very futuristic at the time) and centered on the Robinson family and their attempt to colonize deep space. Unfortunately, their mission is sabotaged and they veer off course, hence the show’s title.

I can’t say that Lost is Space was my favourite S/F television series, but I did get to see a lot of it in syndication as a kid. Normally I am against reboots, but every now and then, they manage to throw one out that is pretty good. Here’s hoping that the writers can do something good with this.

For some reason, Lost in Space was a series that didn’t pop up in syndication when/where I was growing up, so it had a minimal impression on me. Loved Bill Mumy in B5 of course.

As always, the setting is ok, it’ll all depend on the writing, and to a lesser degree, the casting and production.

I hadn’t realized they attempted a reboot in 2003…
